"Boy with Luv" (Korean: "작은 것들을 위한 시"; Translation: "A Poem for Small Things") is a song performed by South Korean boy band BTS featuring American singer Halsey. It is the lead single of BTS' sixth EP Map of the Soul: Persona. It was released with the EP on April 12, 2019 through Big Hit Entertainment.
On June 24, 2019, Billboard announced that the song has been certified Platinum by RIAA.[1]
Background[]
Halsey has been a fan of BTS since around 2017. [2] She first hinted at a collaboration in November 2018:
- "I think we both have this conceptual thing that we really like to do so it can be cool to find some kind of like bridge, like that you know it’s really great for their mo and my ma that it kind of like signify the whole thing together."

The song was first teased on April 7, 2019.[4]
On April 11, 2019 Halsey took to Twitter to share her excitement about the song:

ARMY [BTS' fans] thank you for embracing this collab and remember your boys love you and always want to make you happy. And as for my crew I can’t wait for you to see this side of me! In an interview with SiriusXM on April 12, 2019, RM from BTS talked about how the collaboration came to be:
- "We became friends back in, like, 2017. We met her backstage at the Billboard music awards and we met her, like, last year when she came to Korea. We were talking, ‘We should collaborate, we should work", and when we first got this track, 'Ok, Halsey is perfect for this track’. So we just called her and boom!"

Music video[]
The video for the song was released on April 12, 2019. It was directed by Yong-Seok Choi from Lumpens, with Guzza, Jihye Yoon, & HyeJeong Park serving as assistant directors.
The video simultaneously obtained the records of fastest-liked video and fastest viewed video on YouTube, reaching 3 million likes in 2 hours and 74.6 million views within 24 hours of release.[8] Furthermore, it became the fastest video to reach 100 million views on YouTube, doing so in approximately one day and 10 hours. On April 26, 2019, BigHit dropped another "Boy with Luv" music video titled "ARMY with Luv", including shots for ARMY, BTS' fanbase, and including more moments of Halsey.
