Columbia Records is an American record label owned by Sony Music Entertainment, a subsidiary of Sony Corporation of America, the American division of multinational conglomerate Sony. Columbia is the oldest surviving brand name in the recorded sound business, and the second major company to produce records. Halsey was signed to this label after leaving her old label Capitol Records, in 2023. Just before their departure, in 2022, they expressed being frustrated with the label for holding music and making them fight to release songs.[1] In April 2023, after leaving the label, and two months before signing to Columbia, Halsey took to their Tumblr to say that they were previously working under restrictions (implying with their old label) that are no longer there, and is excited to share an album.[1] In June 2023, it was announced that she was signed to Columbia.[1] Halsey's first release through the label was "The End" on June 4, 2024. Their fifth studio album, The Great Impersonator is planned to be released on October 25, 2024, through the label.
